The Fresno Bee political notebook (click here) details a rift between the owner of Duarte Nurseries and State Senator Jeff Denham.

I've pasted the entire letter to Denham below:

 AN OPEN LETTER TO JEFF DENHAM:

 Senator Denham,

 A recent Fresno Bee article stated that your campaign claims recent

 radio promotions of our Friend's Day open house at Duarte Nursery to

 be in violation of campaign law.  This is ridiculous as you yourself

 enjoyed the same opportunity and event promotion in 2006.  All that

 has changed is that now we are supporting your congressional primary

 opponent, Congressional Chairman Richard Pombo.

 Obviously we cannot simply agree to disagree as to whom should be the

 Republican candidate for the 19th California Congressional district.

 Your recent attack on my family and Duarte Nursery regarding the

 legality of our Friend's Day radio promotions on KMJ 580AM radio shows

 severe lacks of depth in your character, your loyalty, your intellect

 and your most basic capacities of simple recollection.

 From the top:

 Character -  In political desperation you draw a long time Republican

 supporter into your fray with another primary candidate to distract

 from unrelated allegations.  Is this your best answer?  Be thankful

 that the Pombo camp is at least making specific allegations against

 you.  You don't offer them the same as you repeat unfounded and vague

 claims of the activist left - the same groups that have devastated

 many of our Central valley communities that you represent.

 Loyalty - The Duarte family supported you from your very start in the

 State Senate primary.  In 2006 you were our lunchtime speaker at our

 open house to support your fight against a recall from the Democratic

 left.  For this current primary we depart to favor another,

 significantly more senior, candidate.   Now you throw this garbage at

 us?

 Intellect - You thought that this would be helpful to your overall goal?

 Who is advising you - Yosemite Sam?

 Capacities of simple recollection - see below.  This is the radio

 script that we ran prior to your appearance at our 2006 Friend's Day. 

 This will become more memorable than you may wish.

 Withdraw the claims publicly if you wish.  Apologize if you wish.

 Better yet, just go away.

 Please return all funds from Duarte family member and Duarte Nursery

 contributed towards your abandoned state campaigns immediately. (This

 is recommended to all who have contributed to Denham's state office

 campaigns.)

AND THE DENIALS:

On Wednesday May 19, 2010 Jeff Denham personally called me and denied

 outright several times (no there wasn't room for confusion here) that

 his campaign initiated this story.

FINALLY THE TRUTH:

Today, May 20, 2010 Fresno Bee reporter John Ellis reaffirmed, as his

above story states, that he did receive the story from the Denham

campaign.

PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY WHO WILL REPRESENT US IN CONGRESS.
