A Letter from the Chairman
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Lincoln Club
of Fresno County, I want to thank you for your continued support of Central
California’s most important political action committee. It is time to renew
your annual dues, and enclosed you will find a reminder. We appreciate your
generous contributions to our organization, which help us achieve our
objectives.
2006 was a challenging year for Republicans, and much of
it a result of the lack of leadership at the state and federal levels. When
core principles are abandoned, such as limited government, border security
and problem solving, our voters had no incentive to go to the polls. And in
November, they stayed home in droves. Although the Governor was re-elected,
he ran on largely principles inconsistent with those of our Party. One
shining light in the election was Steve Poizner being elected insurance
commissioner, a victory we can build on.
Locally, you funded a radio campaign in which over
171,000 people visited the Lincoln Club website and downloaded our voter
guide! Our site become the most visited political website in Central
California during the election season; a small victory we can be proud of!
2007 will be a year of opportunity, challenges and
growth. There are a large number of policy issues facing the region and the
state this year. With the Presidential campaigns already starting, we are
working diligently to provide you with exclusive Member-Only events. In
addition, this is a year where we have serious discussions with our elected
officials and candidates about where the GOP is going. Not only are we going
to be a part of that discussion – we are going to lead it.
You will also notice that we are slightly restructuring
our membership levels and organization this year. 2008 will be an extremely
eventful year. It is our mission to build the organization financially, and
to double our membership in order to reach our goals. These goals include:
• Recruiting and electing fiscally
conservative candidates in 2008. In the next election cycle,
there will be over 50 seats county-wide open or up for re-election.
Fresno County deserves strong leaders who believe in responsible
government and fiscal conservativism.
• Holding government accountable. It is
time to upgrade the quality of representation in local government.
The Lincoln Club of Fresno County will be a watch-dog for elected
officials, as we did in 2004 in the ousting of liberal Council
President Brad Castillo. 2008 will be an opportunity to change
Fresno for the better.
• Building a winning strategy. By strategizing early, we will be in a
position by 2008 to fund a effective campaign, and expand our party.
Thus, we can be more effective in key elections and reach more
voters to fulfill our goals and mission.
There are many other reasons to maintain your membership
in the Lincoln Club as well. While we meet approximately four times
annually, the luncheon programs are timely, interesting and beneficial to
all who attend. This past year we had guests including Assembly Republican
Leader Kevin McCarthy, Federation for Immigration Reform representative Ira
Mehlman, and Republican pollster Steve Kinney, and Fresno Unified
Superintendent Michael Hanson.
We have established our calendar for 2007 and it promises
to be an exciting year. We have set dates for four luncheons already, and
are planning an inaugural dinner in December featuring a high-profile
speaker, which will sure to be the event of the year. This is the year to
join!
With Federal and State races already decided for the coming
year it is time to think and act locally. Your support will help impact
County, City and School Board governance, and improve the quality of our
representation at all levels of government.
Preserve the gains we have made in the past year by renewing
your membership in the Lincoln Club of Fresno County today. Should you have
any questions, please contact our Membership and Events Coordinator, Ashley
Aluisi, at (559) 240-0727 or aaluisi@gmail.com. Or feel free to contact me
directly at mike@fresnolincolnclub.org. We look forward to
your involvement in 2007.
Very Truly Yours,
Michael Der Manouel, Jr.

In 2000, the Valley became the equivalent of Orange County
in terms of Republican vote in Statewide contests.
In 2004, the Valley has now surpassed Orange County as the most conservative
region in California.

Dear Republican Supporter:
The best way
to describe the effectiveness of the Lincoln Club of Fresno County is with a
name: Brad Castillo.
Yes, the very
symbol of the value of a political action committee dedicated to electing
conservative, pro-business Republicans is the name of a defeated Democrat
City Councilman. As you will see from the article in the Fresno Bee below,
Brad Castillo himself couldn't have provided a better testimony for the
Lincoln Club. Due in part to our efforts, Republican Larry Westerlund will
now occupy the Council District 4 seat after being sworn in early next year.

There were other victories as well on March
2nd. Our endorsed candidate, Mike Villines, easily walked away with the GOP
nomination for the 29th Assembly District. In Clovis Unified School
District, Measure A passed handily, also with the support of the Lincoln
Club.
I hope you are impressed enough with our initial political
work to consider membership in our organization. I've enclosed a
to an application for you to complete and send in with your annual
dues. We have membership levels for everyone - starting with a "no frills"
$100 annual sustaining membership.
Our first of
four voting memberships is the regular Annual Membership level of $500,
which will entitle you to vote at all membership meetings of the PAC. The
$1,000 Executive Committee membership comes with two tickets to the annual
Lincoln Day Dinner and special mention in the program. The $2,500 Party
Builder includes five tickets to the Lincoln Day Dinner and special mention
throughout the year at each of the PAC's meetings and events. Finally, the
Eagle Society gift of $5,000 provides 10 Lincoln Dinner tickets, VIP seating
at all PAC events and special recognition throughout the year.
There are incredibly important opportunities for
conservatives coming up in November as well as future elections. Your
support will help impact State, County, City and School Board governance,
and improve the quality of our representation at all levels of government.
Please take a
moment to look over the website and by all means, don't leave without strong
consideration of joining something effective and meaningful. With virtually
no overhead and no staff, ALL of your money will go straight to furthering
Republican representation up and down the Valley, at all levels of
government.
Preserve the gains we have made in the past year by joining
the Lincoln Club of Fresno County today. Should you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to contact me at mderman@sjvia.com.

Michael Der Manouel, Jr.
