Bush, 9-11 and Gay Marriage

March 8th, 2004

The recent hullabaloo from the Democrats over President Bush's usage of FOUR SECONDS of footage from 9-11 in his new campaign ads can be translated as follows:

Don't fight back with anything that works, dammit!  We want it all OUR way even if we have to lie about why jobs aren't being created!

In short, its the same shrill scream that Howard Dean entertained us with in Iowa, but now an entire Party is looking like an ass, or donkey I should say.

If the Democrats are going to attack Bush on the economy and jobs WITHOUT ever mentioning the terrorism that took place on 9-11 then clearly they want to argue their case completely out of the context of world events, which the White House is not going to let them do.

President Bush inherited a recession from the previous Administration and even worse, inherited their foreign policy and intelligence failures, which led directly to our vulnerability prior to the terrorist attacks, and ultimately, to 3,000 deaths.  The President has every right to remind the nation of factors which have contributed to unemployment, and all right thinking people should encourage him to to so.

Besides, what is the big deal about 5.6% unemployment?  In March, 1996, just prior to Bill Clinton's re-election, the national unemployment rate was 5.5%.  You can look it up at http://data.bls.gov/labjava/servlets/graphics/generated_graphs/lns14000000_28167_1078808232996.gif and see for yourself.  Of course, 5.5% unemployment for a Democrat President is not even a campaign issue,  while John Kerry and the big east coast media harp and speculate about whether Bush can overcome the albatross of 5.6% unemployment around his neck.  This journalistic view is otherwise known as "bias".

Gay marriage is another shrill scream on the part of the left and Democrats in general.  Their reaction to President Bush on the issue is no different than the sniveling, whining punk who starts a fight on the playground and then cries foul when they get hit back.

Here are the facts:  Lawbreaking mayors are issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples in clear violation of State statutes.  Just because Rosie O' Donnell thinks existing State laws providing for marriage between a man and women violate Constitutional "equal protection" laws is of no value, because as of this date no court has ruled in that way.

So how is President Bush "crossing the line" by talking of his support of a federal marriage protection amendment to the US Constitution?  What choice does he have if gutless State Attorneys General won't hold lawbreaking mayors of leftist cities to account for their actions?  And since when did the left ever care about State's rights, which is the argument they are making now?  If they were consistent on the issue of State's rights they would also all be out denouncing Roe v Wade on the same grounds  but we won't be holding our breath waiting for their ideological purity and consistency, now will we?

Conservatives everywhere expect the President  to not only stand up to, but do battle with the left.  Don't get bullied around by their hatred.  Keep fighting terrorism, growing the economy, replacing brutal dictatorships with democracies and standing up for true American values.  Clean up the federal budget and get on top of the tradition of fiscal responsibility so long a mantle of the Republican Party.  Re-election will not be far behind.
